Europe is changing how it handles crypto. They want to make sure giant crypto companies play fair and keep your money safe.
Right now, Europe has a rulebook called MiCA. It has a rule that sounds great: if a crypto company gets a license in one European country, it can do business in all 27 countries.
But there is a big problem. Not all countries test these companies the same way. Some are very strict. Others are very relaxed. Big crypto companies are clever. They find the country with the easiest rules and get their license there. Once they have it, they can sell to everyone in Europe, even in the strict countries.
This worries European leaders. If a company with weak rules crashes or gets hacked, normal people could lose their life savings.
To fix this, Europe wants a new rule. For the biggest crypto companies, local governments won’t be enough. Top European bosses will step in to check them directly. They will make sure these huge companies actually have the money they say they have.
This is great news for everyday users. It means if you use a big crypto app in Europe, you know it passed a very hard test. Big companies might complain because they have to work harder and spend more money to prove they are safe. But Europe believes your safety is the most important thing.
